This was an attempt to upscale the video posted on the official website of the Queen Elisabeth Competition which wasn't 100% successful as the original was low resolution interlaced dv which never takes upscaling particularly well. The close up shots worked better in full upscaling whilst the wider shots not so much so I had to cut between two levels of upscale between the close ups and the wides and even mix metween the two on long zooms.

Brilliant!. Sadly only those of us with a sense of humour still get it!. It took the P**s out of everyone!. Brilliantly scripted and acted. Nuff said.

It's Comedy Connections - S5 EP3 "It Ain't Half Hot Mum" first broadcast in 2006. I did try to upload the full episode at the same time but it was immediately blocked. I have managed to upload an edited version, taking out 7 excerpts of the show, that passes for UK viewing. There is also a less edited version with only 2 cuts on the same channel but UK viewers will need a VPN. ua-cam.com/video/KJdVin9PRGY/v-deo.html

My father's younger brother (both from Swansea, like Davies), served in the Royal Artillery during WWII. He must have had a BSM very similar to SM Williams. One particular quote sticks in my mind - "Every battery is allowed one painter, one pianist and one poet. The Captain is the painter, the Lieutenant is the pianist and I'm the fucking poet. The rest of you dirty bastards GET YOUR HAIR CUT!"😅

If they put this on TV now along with Desmond’s, Love Thy Neighbour, The Real McCoy and Goodness Gracious Me they would still be funny. They did more for race relations because they made us laugh a ourselves and appreciate each others humour.

A wonderous comical show that I grew up with in the 70'-80's Sadly it couldn't be replicated nowadays, for fear of those who's mission in life is to be offended on behalf of those who don't care, or ironically, find this satire funny regardless

Thanks for posting this up. I completely missed this when it went out. I kind of got into "Between the Lines" a little late, as I only saw the third series(which divides people) - but the love for this particular series has always stayed with me since the 1990s.

What the snowflakes don't seem to realise is that the joke was on the white British "ruling class". The gunners, Char Walla and Punkah Walla always won in the end. It's such a shame that genius like this is now cancelled, but that is also why my BBC license fee is also cancelled.

My late father was often mistaken for Battery Sgt Major Williams when he completed 4 year's in the Parachute Regiment. Joined the Light Infantry as a junior nco, and when he reached the rank of colour sgt the lad's in his company said "they've been watching colour sgt at the guard house, Windsor Davies is a mirror image of him " Same height, same barrel chest and facial expressions and voice. And the way he walked around with his stick was the exact same. Bloody hilarious "lovely boy."

The reason why people loved it was because such a huge slice of the audience knew that the entire British military rested on people acting. Acting more nonchalant, more courageous, more laconic than they actually felt. The Carry On crew did Up the Khyber in exactly the same way. So did Ripping Yarns. It's real - a commando told he's to be shot at St Nazaire, and who says "Oh, dooo shut up and just get on with it" - is keeping the performance going to the possible end. But it's essentially, "I couldn't cope if this was actually me, but I cope in this performance".

TV is atrocious now. Watching programs like this, Only Fools & Horses & countless others 70’ & 80’s tv makes you realise how creative previous generations were. As modern day tv isn’t a patch on it…
